Potions Camps 2024

Mon, Jul 29 - Wed, Jul 31, 2024

$50

Embark on a magical journey into the enchanting world of herbs and potions!  Campers will immerse themselves in the art of potion-making, learning about the mystical and practical properties of plants, how to identify them, and creating their very own healing potions and herbal crafts to take home.  Sessions are divided into ages 5-8 and 9-13.

Potions Camp - "First Years" ages 5-8
Monday, July 29 - Wednesday, July 31, 2024
10:00 - noon each day

Day 1 – Introduction and Exploration

Explore the gardens in search of plants for our potions.  You might be surprised at how many you already know. We’ll learn about where they like to grow, how they like to grow, and ways to work with them.  We’ll also craft a magic wand to help us make our potions, and create a field book to store all of our new plant knowledge.

Day 2 – Sleeping Potions and crafts

Today is all about potions that help us sleep better.  We’ll meet some new plant friends today and learn how they help us to relax and calm down.  We’ll also make a dream pillow that brings sweet dreams, and a sleeping potion tea to help us fall asleep.

Day 3 – Healing/Helper Potions

Our final day is all about potions that help us out in some way.  We’ll make a “Disappearing Sunburn” potion, a potion we can carry around in our pocket to change our day, and a “Liquid Luck” potion.

Potions Camp - "Second Years" ages 9-13
Monday, July 29 - Wednesday, July 31, 2024
2:00 - 4:00pm each day

Day 1 – Introduction and Exploration

Explore the gardens in search of plants for our potions.  You might be surprised at how many you already know. We’ll learn about where they like to grow, how they like to grow, and ways to work with them.  We’ll also create a field book to store all of our new plant knowledge.

Day 2 – Protective Potions and crafts

Today we’ll learn about plants used historically for protection and create our own personal “Mojo” bags to carry with us.  We’ll also create a “pocket potion” to help protect us from stress and anxiety.

Day 3 – Clearing Potions and crafts

Today we’ll learn about plants used historically for clearing negative energies from our spaces.  We’ll learn about smudging, and create our own herbal smudge sticks, as well as a “clearing potion” for when smudging is not appropriate.
