Potions Camp for Kids
2023 Dates TBD
10:00 - noon each day
$50
Spend three days with Shannon in her magical gardens learning about herbs, herbal potions and remedies, and how to grow these wonderful, helpful plants. Students will learn how to identify local growing herbs, learn some of their folklore and practical uses, create herbal crafts and remedies, and plant their own “potions” garden to take home.
Day 1 – Introduction and Exploration
Explore the gardens in search of plants for our potions. You might be surprised at how many you already know. We’ll learn about where they like to grow, how they like to grow, and ways to work with them. We’ll also craft a magic wand to help us make our potions, and a potion we can carry around in our pocket to change our day.
Day 2 – Sleeping Potions
Today is all about potions that help us sleep better. We’ll make a dream pillow that brings sweet dreams, a dream salve to chase away the nightmare monsters, and a sleeping potion tea to help us fall asleep.
Day 3 – Healer Potions
Our final day is all about potions that help heal. We’ll learn how to make salves and create a “boo boo” salve for cuts and scrapes, and a bug bite salve to stop the itchy’s. We’ll also plant seeds to take home to start our own potions gardens.
